(A humorous antidote I once heard) “ a knowledgeable college professor was lecturing her writing class on the nuances of double positive words and double negative words.
She explained that a double negative such as ‘no way’ has a positive meaning of ‘oh yes’. Then she went on to explain, ‘I do not know of any situation where a double positive has a negative meaning. At that moment, a wise guy on the front row pipes up and says ‘Yaa––Right.’”
